dismogs ranks Discord profiles against each other inside a server. This page says exactly what that means for your data. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we store

When you connect Discord on this site we receive and store your Discord user ID, username, display name, avatar, and the list of servers you are in. That is the whole of what the identify and guilds permissions give us, and we ask for nothing else. Discord also gives our sign-in provider your email address, which is stored with your account and used for nothing — we do not email you from it and it appears nowhere in the app. We never receive your password, your messages, or your direct messages.

When someone in a server names you in a dismogs command, or you open the dismogs Activity in a call, we store your user ID, username, display name, avatar, and your nickname and avatar in that server. That is how the app knows who is in a server. In most servers dismogs is added by a member rather than by an admin, and there it never sees a member list at all — the only people it knows are those who have been named or have opened the Activity. Where an admin has added it to the server itself, it reads the server’s member list to keep that roster current.

We store every comparison that is made — who was shown, who was picked, and by whom — and the scores derived from those comparisons.

Photos

If you add a photo of yourself — in Discord, with /photo add — we store it, at three sizes, in private storage that nothing public can reach. It is shown only to members of the servers you play in, and only where you have said it may show: that server, every server you play in, or everywhere. Nobody else can add a photo of you.

One of those servers is public. We run a dismogs server that anyone may join, so that people from different servers can play each other. It is a server like any other and the same rule applies — your photo shows there only if you have joined it, and only while you are a member. If you would rather it did not, leave that server or set your photo to a single server on your account page; both take effect at once.

Before a photo is stored it is checked automatically, on our own servers and with no outside service: that it shows one face, that the person does not appear to be under 18, that they are fully clothed, and that it carries no text, contact details or QR codes. A photo that fails is not stored; what we keep of it is the decision and the numbers behind it, never the picture. A photo that passes is stripped of its metadata first. We do not identify faces or match them against anything.

You can remove your photo at any time, here or in Discord, and it is deleted; the previous ones you kept are yours to delete the same way. Members can report a photo to the people who run their server, who can keep it off that server’s cards, and we can take a photo down everywhere. Removing your photo takes you off nothing else: you stay on the boards you are on, with your avatar.

What we do not store

We do not keep your Discord access token in our database. On the site it is used once, at the moment you sign in, to read your server list; it is carried in your own sign-in cookie, in your browser, and we do not read it again. In the Activity it is checked once and exchanged for a short-lived session of our own. We do not read message content, and the app does not have permission to.

People who never signed up

If someone in your server puts you in a contest, your profile becomes part of that server’s board whether or not you have ever used dismogs. Your score is calculated, and your name is shown to members of that server — the people who can already see you — and hidden from everyone else until you connect Discord yourself.

Deleting your data

Email hello@dismogs.com from any address and we will delete your profile, your photos, your votes and your scores, in every server at once. We do this on request and without asking why.

Reporting a problem

If the app is being used to target or harass someone, or you think it is breaking Discord’s rules, email hello@dismogs.com. We read every report and act on it.

Who else sees it

We run a public dismogs server, and it publishes a feed of the contests running in other servers. That feed names nobody: it says which question was played and how many times, and it does not carry names, avatars or photos of people who are not in that server themselves. Nobody appears there by name unless they have joined it, and it never publishes a loss.

Scores are visible to people who can see the server board. We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers. Our infrastructure providers — Vercel for hosting, Supabase for the database and storage, and Google for the fonts our cards are drawn with — process data on our behalf and nothing more.

Discord sees more than that, and it is worth being plain about it. The Activity runs inside Discord, so everything it sends — including photos — passes through Discord to reach your screen. And when the bot posts a card or a photo into a channel, that image is a Discord attachment from then on: it lives on Discord’s servers, anyone who can read the channel can save it, and removing your photo here does not remove it from messages it has already been posted in.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top. Questions go to hello@dismogs.com.
